Manufacturers can support DPP readiness by maintaining controlled BOMs, approved material records, pattern and measurement versions, production-batch references, inspection results, label files, and packing documentation. They should report substitutions before use and connect records to the correct style and purchase order. A factory can support traceable production, but it should not claim DPP certification unless a recognised legal or verification basis exists.

The garment manufacturer sits where product specifications, sourced materials, and physical production meet. Records should be indexed by the brand’s style number, purchase order, and production batch rather than only by an internal factory nickname.

Without those controls, splitting an order across factories can create several conflicting versions of the same product history.
A practical review is simple. Select one current dress and request the approved BOM, supplier details, bulk material records, production batch, inspection results, care-label file, and packing specification. The speed, consistency, and clarity of the response reveal more than a presentation deck. Missing records are not automatically disqualifying, but the supplier should understand the gap and show a credible correction process.

Brands do not need to wait for the delegated act to improve the next collection. They can require one controlled style identifier, a component-level BOM, a named supplier for every material, recorded substitutions, a production-batch reference, verified composition, reviewed care instructions, evidence for public environmental claims, controlled label files, and final inspection linked to the batch.
The sampling stage is the best time to establish these controls. Fabric references, trim selections, pattern versions, measurements, sample comments, and packaging requirements are already being discussed.
