PP Lock and Production Handover

PP approval is the point where development decisions become production instructions. A clear handover protects the approved fit, fabric, construction, branding, and packing from being reinterpreted after bulk materials have been booked.

What Gets Locked

The PP standard confirms the final fabric source, color, lining, trims, measurements, construction, stitch requirements, support structure, zipper, labels, hangtags, barcodes, polybag, carton marks, and packing method. The product development manager should also confirm any acceptable appearance limits, critical measurement points, inspection method, and shipment split.

Bulk Controls Linked to the Approved Sample

Bulk consistency is built through connected checks, not a final inspection alone. Jinfeng Apparel uses incoming material QC, cutting control, sewing checks, measurement review, finishing inspection, packing QC, AQL inspection by project, and client-appointed inspection support.

Material Inspection

Fabric and trims are checked for identity, color, shade, width, defects, stretch, recovery, transparency, surface damage, print direction, lace condition, sequin stability, and quantity as relevant. Risks are separated before cutting so unsuitable material does not spread through finished garments.

Cutting Control

Cutting checks cover fabric face, grain, nap, shine direction, print placement, stripe or motif matching, size marker, piece count, notches, and bundle identification. Stretch mesh, satin, velvet, printed fabrics, and long maxi panels need product-specific handling to prevent distortion or shade mismatch.

Sewing Standard

Production follows the approved sample, construction notes, seam allowance, stitch method, reinforcement, lining, zipper, cups, boning, trims, labels, and finishing requirements. Critical operations are reviewed early so repeated errors are corrected before a large quantity moves forward.

In-Line Inspection

In-line checks focus on visible construction, measurements, symmetry, seam quality, tension, zipper function, neckline shape, strap position, slit height, lining, and style-specific risks. Problems are traced back to material, cutting, pattern, sewing, or handling before corrective action is released.

Measurement Check

Measurements are checked against the approved size chart and agreed tolerance. Critical points vary by style: bust and neckline for corset or strapless dresses, waist and hip for bodycon dresses, hem and lining for maxi dresses, and rise for jumpsuits. Results can be recorded by size and production stage.

Finishing Review

Finishing checks cover thread trimming, pressing, shape, stains, shine marks, seam impressions, surface damage, drape, and overall appearance. Satin, velvet, sequins, lace, chiffon, and light colors need handling and packing methods suited to their surface and visual risks.

Packing QC

Labels, care content, size labels, hangtags, barcodes, SKU stickers, polybags, folding, size-color ratio, carton quantity, carton marks, gross and net weight, and warehouse labels are checked against approved files. Retail and ecommerce packing must be scannable, identifiable, and aligned with receiving instructions.

Final and AQL Review

Final inspection checks garment identity, color, size, quantity, measurements, appearance, sewing, trims, labels, packing, and cartons. AQL inspection can be arranged according to order requirements, client standards, or third-party rules. Critical, major, and minor defects are classified according to the agreed method.

Shipment Release

Goods are released after inspection status, packing list, carton marks, quantities, style-color-size breakdown, and shipping instructions are confirmed. Jinfeng Apparel can coordinate with a client-appointed forwarder or support express, air, sea, and split shipment planning by project.

18 Styles, 270 SKUs, One Controlled Launch

An anonymous US fast-fashion womenswear brand developed an 18-style dress program with Jinfeng Apparel for a total order of 42,600 pieces. The range combined satin occasion dresses, stretch-mesh bodycon styles, lace midi dresses, ponte structured dresses, and crepe mini dresses across three average colorways and a five-size run from XS to XL, creating 270 active style-color-size SKUs.

Development Challenge

The product team needed photo-ready hero styles first, while supporting styles still required fabric and fit decisions. Satin shade and zipper behavior, mesh transparency and recovery, lace placement, corset support, bodycon side-seam stability, and consistent size grading created different risks across one launch calendar. Barcode, hangtag, polybag, carton, and mixed-size packing files also had to match 270 SKU records.

The planned program ran through a 16-week project calendar:

  • Weeks 1-2: technical review, fabric grouping, trim confirmation, and sample priority
  • Weeks 3-6: first samples and fit samples for hero and high-risk styles
  • Weeks 7-8: revised samples, photo-ready samples, and file updates
  • Weeks 9-10: PP samples, golden samples, bulk quotation lock, and production handover
  • Weeks 11-14: bulk cutting, sewing, in-line inspection, measurement, and finishing
  • Weeks 15-16: final inspection, packing, and two delivery waves

Jinfeng Execution

Styles were divided into five material groups and four technical groups. Hero satin and mesh styles received earlier sample capacity. Pattern comments were recorded against bust, waist, hip, neckline, strap, slit, and length points. Fabric changes triggered pattern and cost review before new samples were cut. Approved files were transferred through final patterns, size charts, BOMs, trim cards, label files, packing instructions, and QC checklists.

Bulk production was released in two waves.
The first wave prioritized campaign and launch quantities; the second carried the remaining inventory after the same PP and golden-sample standards. SKU, barcode, carton mark, and size-ratio checks were completed before shipment release.

Program Result

The 18-style range moved from mixed development risk to a documented production system. The brand retained pattern, fabric, trim, color, measurement, packing, and golden-sample records for reorder evaluation and the next seasonal line. No client identity, unpublished artwork, internal pricing, or proprietary tech-pack content is disclosed.
